Dojo Affiliation

We offer Aikido classes for adults & children, and Iaido classes. The dojo is affiliated with Birankai International North America, and is under the guidance of T. K. Chiba Shihan, 8th dan, Chief Instructor of San Diego Aikikai, Chairman of the Teaching Committee of the USAF Western Region and founder of Birankai International.

Chief Instructor

Our Chief Instructor, Diane Deskin Sensei received Shidoin certification (Certified Instructor) after graduating from the kenshusei program at San Diego Aikikai, and cuurrently holds the rank of Godan (5th degree black belt).

Other Instructors

Jim Davis, fifth degree black belt (Godan) and certified instructor (Shidoin), conducts classes in Aikido as well as Iaido (the Way of the sword). Murphy Davis, 3rd degree black belt (Sandan) oversees and instructs

Other Classes

Sonoran Aikikai also offers classes in Zazen Meditation.

Training

Beginners and experienced Aikidoists are welcome. Beginners practice fundamental movements with a large focus on learning to move safely and stay connected to one's center. Aikidoists with previous experience will have an opportunity develop solid technique and advanced technical skills into their training.
