Dojo Affiliation
Sonoran Aikikai is a member of Birankai International, North America, and is affiliated with Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan. We offer Aikido classes for adults & children under the guidance of T. K. Chiba Shihan, 8th dan, founder of San Diego Aikikai and current Chairman of the Teaching Committee of Birankai International.
Chief Instructor
Our Chief Instructor, Diane Deskin Sensei received Shidoin certification (Certified Instructor) after graduating from the kenshusei program at San Diego Aikikai, and cuurrently holds the rank of Godan (5th degree black belt).
Other Instructors
Jim Davis, fifth degree black belt (Godan) and certified instructor (Shidoin), also conducts classes in Aikido. Murphy Davis, 3rd degree black belt (Sandan) oversees and instructs children's classes.
Other Classes
Sonoran Aikikai also offers classes in Zazen Meditation.
Training
Beginners and experienced Aikidoka are welcome. Beginners practice fundamental movements with a large focus on learning to move safely and stay connected to one's center. Aikidoka with previous experience will have an opportunity to develop solid technique and advanced technical skills into their training.
